Product Information

Need to reduce exhaust drone and noise without choking your performance exhaust?

AES Racing Resonators are Australian-made, high-flow resonators designed to help control exhaust noise and drone in high-performance street, drag and motorsport exhaust systems.

Featuring a straight-through stainless steel design, an AES Resonator can be added to a large-diameter exhaust system to reduce unwanted exhaust frequencies while maintaining excellent exhaust flow.

They are particularly useful on turbocharged, rotary and high-horsepower vehicles running 2", 2.5", 3", 3.5" and 4" exhaust systems.

Why Choose an AES Racing Resonator?

  • Helps reduce exhaust drone
  • Helps control excessive exhaust noise
  • High-flow straight-through design
  • Australian made
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Suitable for large-diameter performance exhausts
  • Ideal for turbo and rotary applications
  • Can be used with an AES Racing Muffler for additional sound control

What Does an Exhaust Resonator Do?

An exhaust resonator is designed to target unwanted sound frequencies within the exhaust system. Unlike a conventional muffler, its primary purpose is to help control exhaust tone and drone rather than simply reducing overall exhaust volume.

On high-performance vehicles with large-diameter exhaust systems, adding a resonator can make the car considerably more pleasant to drive without resorting to a restrictive exhaust system.

This is particularly useful for street cars that experience excessive cabin drone at cruising RPM.

Muffler vs Resonator – Which Do I Need?

If the exhaust is simply too loud overall, an AES Racing Muffler should generally be the starting point.

If the exhaust has an unpleasant tone or drones heavily at cruising RPM, adding an AES Resonator can help target those unwanted frequencies.

For particularly loud high-performance, rotary or large-diameter exhaust systems, using an AES Racing Muffler and AES Resonator together can provide greater sound control while maintaining a high-flow exhaust system.

Choosing Your AES Resonator Size

Match the bore size to the diameter of your exhaust system. From there, choose the largest body diameter that will comfortably fit in the available space.

A larger resonator body provides more internal volume for sound absorption, making it a good choice where reducing exhaust noise and drone is the priority. Smaller diameter bodies are ideal where underbody clearance or available space is limited.

For example, AES offers the 3" resonator in 4", 5" and 6" body diameters, allowing you to choose the best fit for your vehicle without changing your exhaust size.
